Employment Limitations after TRS Retirement

TRS Work Limitation Apply to Retirees who Retired after 12/31/2010 (SB1669)

TRS has developed a brochure entitled Employment After Retirement to explain limitations applicable to working in Texas public education after retirement.  See the TRS Retiree Work Maximum spreadsheet in this section for work maximums by month.The general limit is half of a full-time load.  It's the responsibility of TRS Retirees to understand these limitations and to monitor their workload.  The college is required by TRS to report work beyond the limitations. 

Working beyond the limitations in any month will result in loss of TRS pension for that month.  Because the number of business days differs each month, working a strict 19.5 hour weekly schedule will not assure that TRS monthly limitations will not be exceeded.
