About International Student Services
The Office of International Student Services (OISS) is committed to supporting and promoting the success of our F-1 international students at Houston Community College by offering a wide variety of services. Our staff provides information and programs to international students about the campuses and community and provides support and assistance concerning F-1 visas and related F-1 immigration issues. OISS also host international student workshops that help our students adjust to life in the U.S. and that promote personal, academic, and professional success. Workshop topics include:

Mission:
The Office of International Students Services (OISS) will provide exemplary services for international students that include enrollment, registration, orientation, counseling, aid with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rules and regulations, and other social integration needs. OISS is committed to assisting F-1 students and other non-immigrants as it relates to their student and immigrant status at HCC. OISS is a reliable, knowledgeable and professional resource for international students engaged in learning and skill development.
Vision:
OISS will gain recognition as one of the most prominent and relevant international student offices at a two-year community college in the United States. Through offering unique opportunities to a diverse population, OISS will be integral to the success of the international community.
Goals:
OISS will be a leader in implementing state and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) changes as they occur, using technology at its optimum level.
OISS staff will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and analytical abilities to provide premium service to the community and to provide training for our colleagues nationally and internationally.
Visibly increase the commitment to provide professional, prompt and efficient service to students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Promote customer-centered services to all of our customers.
Promote mobility and recognition for the staff persons who excel beyond normal duties.
Train staff to ensure continued competence in advising, counseling, immigration regulations, cultural sensitivity and customer service.
Continue to improve the staff's knowledge and skill set to ensure optimal performance of daily responsibilities.
Aggressively work to automate processes to ensure continued compliance with immigration regulations and to keep students abreast of all pertinent information as it becomes available.
OISS will hold leadership positions within regional, national and international organizations and play a key role in the decision making process.
