Mission
In a global society, HCC prepares students to address issues that transcend national boundaries while fostering good citizenship. HCC incorporates international awareness and experiences as essential aspects of today's curriculum.
HCC International Initiative objectives include:
- Globalizing HCC curriculum.
- Supporting HCC diversity issues and programs including activities for international students at HCC.
- Sharing academic information and technologies with institutions around the world.
- Providing opportunities for international experiences by HCC students.
- Providing for international experiences and exchanges of HCC faculty.
- Expanding HCC contract training and distance education.
- Supporting partnerships that foster the economic development of local business and industry.
In Order to Promote Global Competency, HCC is Committed to:
- Expand programs and initiatives to promote global awareness, training and economic development.
- Encourage inclusiveness relating to race, ethnicity and religion.
- Broaden the study of foreign languages and cultures.
- Enhance international study and exchange for students and faculty.
Facts - International Students and Study Abroad:
- International students at community colleges increased by 57.9% between 1993-2003.
- Over 84,000 international students now attend two-year institutions.
- International students at community colleges contribute more than $1.87 billion annually to the U.S. economy.
- Nearly 4,000 community college students study abroad.
