Do I have to pay for testing?
HCC will assess a $25 test fee to all students who take the ASSET, COMPASS and CELSA tests. This is a one-time test fee. Those students taking the NET (Nurse Entrance Test) will be assessed a $20 test fee per attempt. All testing fees must be paid prior to testing.

Students with documented disabilities may qualify for special testing accommodations. Contact the ADA counselor at least two weeks prior to testing for a determination of your testing needs.
Am I able to retest?
HCC abides by the test publishers retest policy. Institutional retest policies are also enforced. Contact your counselor/advisor for additional information regarding retesting.
Can I fail?
There are no pass or fail scores. Tests are administered to assess a student’s readiness to enroll in college-level courses. Students who do not meet institutional or state testing standards will be referred to developmental courses or programs to enhance their skills.
Will my test scores be placed on my transcript?
Students whose test scores are used to determine state testing standards will have their TSI status listed on their transcript. For additional information regarding state testing standards, please contact your counselor/advisor.

What if I tested at another college? Can I use those test scores?
Test scores taken at another college or university may be considered for placement purposes. You will need to submit an official college/university transcript or other official score report showing your test scores to your counselor/advisor. They will advise you if those test scores can be used.
I am a foreign student. What tests do I have to take?
Students whose native language is not English will need to take the CELSA (Combined English Language Skills Assessment) for placement into appropriate English courses. Enrollment in other academic courses may require additional testing. See your counselor/advisor for additional information.
