Preparing for the Tests

How do I prepare for the tests?

  1. Contact the HCC GED instructional program at 713.718.5400.

  2. Obtain a GED study guide from the public library or bookstore.

  3. Review the GED Testing Services website at http://www.GEDTEST.org.

  4. Call the Steck-Vaughn company at 1.800.531.5015 (Customer Service) or check out their website at http://www.gedpractice.com.


How do I get started?
You must pre-register and attend orientation as soon as possible. Call the test center nearest you for the pre-registration/orientation date and time.



What do I bring to pre-registration/orientation?

 

Proper Identification:

    • Current Texas Department of Public Safety Drivers License (TDL) with photo, or
    • Texas Department of Public Safety Identification Card with photo, or
    • U.S. Military ID card, or
    • U.S. Government issued ID with current photo

    • You must have one of the above picture Identification cards and a:


    • Social Security card or any legal document with your Social Security number printed on the document.

Supplies:

    • Two #2 pencils
    • Blackball point pen


How much does the test cost?

 

Fees:
$25 initial test fee
$10 GED certificate fee
$6 GEDTS processing fee

Total: $41


Re-testing Fees:
$10 writing skills
$ 5 for each of the other tests
