HCC and Workforce Solutions Childcare Program
This State of Texas program is funded through a partnership between HCC and the Workforce Solutions and is based on parent income and the number of credit hours the parent is enrolled in at HCC. Applications, along with the appropriate documentation, can be submitted to an HCC childcare liaison at any one of the six colleges. The documentation is then forwarded to a Workforce Solutions financial aid coordinator, and a funding determination is made based on the information provided, usually within 3-5 business days of receipt. The parent will then be contacted by the Workforce Solutions regarding application approval and co-payments.
Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must be participating full time (10 credit hours) in a training program at one of the HCC colleges.
If the applicant is married, his or her spouse must be working or in school. The gross monthly income must not exceed the income guidelines. All parents are assessed a fee unless they receive TANF or SSI.
The childcare options available through this program are:
• licensed daycare centers
• registered family homes
• group day homes
• self-arranged care
For applicants who meet the preliminary eligibility assessment, the following documents will be requested:
• Copies of Social Security cards for all family members
• Copies of the two most recent check stubs for working family members
• Training verification (class schedule and degree plan)
• Student copy of HCC transcript
• Application for eligibility certification for services
• Proof of monthly child support payment and/or Attorney General documentation
