Strategic Planning—Houston Community College currently operates within a thee-year strategic planning framework (2008-2010). The plan has six goal areas with steering committees comprised of faculty and staff members, administrators and students assigned to develop and monitor progress in pursuing the College’s vision.

Communications—This office handles district-level communications including: (1) media and public relations, (2) publications and e-media, (3) community outreach, and (4) HCC-TV. It is also responsible for developing and implementing a college-wide marketing strategy as well as collaborating with the PR Directors at each of the six colleges

Institutional Research—The Office of Institutional Research has two distinctly different missions within HCC. First, it provides all external reporting to the state (Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board), federal agencies and regional accreditation. Second, the Office also develops and delivers customized research reports to support decision-making.

HCC Foundation—Established in 1976, the HCC Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) that supports the College in its efforts to attract and educate Houston-area students with the desire and the dedication to learn. The Foundation provides financial assistance in three main areas: (1) student scholarships and endowments, (2) capital projects and program support, and (3) faculty grants and awards.

Function

The Office of Planning & Institutional Effectiveness has the unique charge of providing cross-functional support to the district office and all six of the colleges within Houston Community College. The defining nature of these services is that they impact all instructional programs as well as all administrative units.
