Adult Education—Houston Community College is the fiscal agent for federal and state Adult Education grant funds. HCC is the largest provider of adult education in Texas. A number of organizations join with the college to provide Adult Education services as members of the Houston Literacy Consortium. Adult education classes are grant supported and virtually free to the student
Adult High School—Houston Community College offers fee-based credit recovery services to currently enrolled high school students and out-of-school adults. The HCC Adult High School courses meet all requirements established by the Texas Education Agency. When completed, high school diplomas are awarded by the student’s school district of origin.
Function
The HCC Adult Education Programs provide GED preparation, Adult Basic Education including English as a Second Language (ESL) training and Adult High School course completion services to eligible educationally disadvantaged clients. The services provided by the Adult Education Programs are in alignment with and relevant to the institutional mission and create opportunity through access to post-secondary education and employment and are essential to their clients’ success.
