AutoCAD is a CAD (computer aided design) sofware application for 2D and 3D design and drafting, developed and sold by Autodesk, Inc.  It is a leader in the design field having been in release since 1982 and is one of the first CAD programs to run on IBM PC.  

Because AutoCad has so many different applications and the drafting and design field is currently expanding, the job market is very good for experienced AutoCad operators. You can design everything from residential and commercial buildings to landscaping and automobiles.  Drafting and design skills are very important to have as prerequisite knowledge.
