Commercial Truck Driving Center

The basic entry level truck driving program is designed to prepare students for an entry level truck driving position. The program consists of 2 courses taken as a block. The courses cover: rules, regulations, hours of service, and practical hands-on training.

Equipment

The vehicles used in training are comparable to those used in the trucking industry and include: tractors both conventional and cab over, nine, ten and thirteen speed transmissions, set back axles, tandem, single axle and Jiff lock rears axle. Trailers include 45ft, 48ft, 53ft. dry vans, and flat beds, 27ft and 30ft pups and tankers. Students train on both loaded and empty trailers provided a real world-training environment.

Licensure/Certification - Professional Truck Driving Industry (PTDI) or HCC certificate of completion.

Length of Certificate - 286 course contact hours

Prerequisites - Applicant must meet all requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Houston Community College.
