Commercial Truck Driving
The truck driving program is designed to prepare students for an entry-level truck driving position. The program consists of two courses taken as a block. The courses cover: rules, regulations, hours of service, and practical hands-on training.
Equipment:
The vehicles used in training are comparable to those used in the trucking industry and include: tractors both conventional and cab over, nine, ten and thirteen speed transmissions, set back axles, tandem, single axle and Jiff lock rears axle. Trailers include 45ft, 48ft, 53ft. dry vans, and flat beds, 27ft and 30ft pups and tankers. Students train on both loaded and empty trailers provided a real world-training environment.

Licensure/Certification:
Professional Truck Driving Industry (PTDI) or HCC certificate of completion.
Prerequisites:
Applicant must meet all requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Houston Community College including:
- Be at least 18-years-old for instate; 21-years-old for over the road
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass DOT drug test
- Have a good driving record
- Have a valid class A driver's license
- Have a CDL (commercial driver's license) permit by the first day of class.
