Telemetry Technician
The Telemetry Technician, also known as a Monitoring Technician, is trained to monitor the heart’s electrical activity within the setting of an ICU, telemetry department, or facilities which provide arrhythmia monitoring services. The student will be trained to recognize and evaluate heart rhythms. Must pass an EKG Rhythm Strip Test to complete the certificate.
Prerequisites:
Attend an Information Session. Provide proof of high school diploma or GED. Specific criminal background check and drug screening required if the student takes the optional clinical.
Certification:
National certification in EKG is offered by multiple agencies, including the American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals (ACA) and the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute (CCI).
