Electronic Medical Record Specialist

Over the next decade, the federal government is projected to spend more than $35 billion on bonuses to physicians, hospitals and others that adopt certified electronic medical records (EMR).  Additionally, Medicare will start penalizing physicians who have not responded to the incentives.

Certificate Overview

  • Prepares individuals to work in medical offices and clinics where EMR's are either currently in use, or will be in use in the near future.
  • The EMR Specialist will be in a unique position to help guide the implementation and development of the EMR for the specific medical practice.
  • Because the Electronic Medical Record is a new and evolving concept, the EMR Specialist is also a new and evolving job category within the medical record and health information technology field.
