Breast Imaging Technologist

This program provides training for the registered X-Ray Technologist to enter the advanced imaging field of mammography.  The program is ideal for new graduates wanting to increase their skills as well as for experienced X-Ray Technologists wanting to expand their credentials.  The program is designed to provide the student with a sound knowledge and skills in all aspects of a mammography including anatomy, physiology, positioning, and quality assurance.  The program includes a 40 hour theory class and a 160 hour clinical.

Licensure/Certification - Successful completion of the program will prepare the technologist for the ARRT Mammography Certification Exam.

Length of Certificate - 13 weeks/200 course contact hours

Prerequisites - Currently registered as a technologist in Radiography (R) ARRT and hold a current MRT License with the Texas Department of State Health Services.  Specific criminal background check, drug screen, Healthcare Provider CPR, and immunizations required prior to clinical assignment.

Coursework - Course offerings vary by semester.

MAMT 2037 - Breast Imaging, 40 hrs

MAMT 2064 - Clinical, 160 hrs
