Child Development Associate (CDA) & Child Development: Professional Development CEU courses.

The Child Development Associate is a series of three courses (144 hours) provides training that is required to apply for the Child Development Associate credential sponsored by The Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. This is a study of the principles of normal child growth and development from conception to adolescence. The focus will be on cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.

Participants must complete 120 hours of formal childcare education in eight subject areas as mandated by the Council. An additional 480 hours or 12 weeks of experience in a licensed daycare facility must be completed within a five year period. An application fee of $325 must be paid to the Council when submitting an application to take the final assessment from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition.

Length of Certificate - 24 weeks

Prerequisites - None

Classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00am - 3:30pm at the Alief Campus, 13803 Bissonnet, and Central College Educational Development Center, 3214 Austin at Caroline Street

CDEG 1017 - Child Development Associate Training I, 48 hrs
CDEC 2022 - Child Development Associate Training II, 48 hrs
CDEC 2024 - Child Development Associate Training III, 48 hrs

Child Development: Professional Development CEU courses

Math Essentials for Pre-Schoolers:  This workshop is designed to provide early childhood educators with information that will enhance and promote hands on activities stimulating preschoolers analytical ability using creative classroom activities.  8 hours, one day training.  

Science Made fun for Pre-Schoolers:  This workshop is designed to provide educators of young children to explore reasons, methods, and materials, for teaching children science concepts through discovery and exploration using classroom projects and fun activities.  8 hours, one day training.

Technology and the 21st Century Pre-Schooler:  Educating the 21st century pre-schooler is much different than 10 years ago. This workshop is designed to assist educators of young children with effective ways in delivering the same results as 10 years ago, using creative and fun ways to incorporate technology as a tool in the classroom.  8 hours, one day training.
