Program Description:

A 12-month Dental Assisting Program where a student learns the skills necessary to become a Dental Assistant in both classrooms and on-site labs. The training also places each student in local dental offices where hands-on experience is gained.

Each student/graduate must apply with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners to become a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) for employment in Texas. The application process will require participation in a review course, the passing of an exam, proof of CPR certification and applicable fees.

A Dental Assisting Program graduate receiving a Certificate of Completion also becomes eligible to take a national exam, which allows the individual to be professionally identified as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).

The pre-requisite, HPRS 1201, Introduction to Health Professions, must be completed prior to enrolling in the Dental Assisting Program. See Coleman College for Health Sciences class schedule for course availability.
