Posting Policy & Procedures

 

Bulletin boards help to improve the system of internal communication at 3100 Main. Please adhere to the following policy guidelines when posting notices.



Policy Guidelines

 

1. Staff and students may post notices at the Administrative Service Center on the gold-colored burlap panels mounted on the walls near the copiers (located throughout the building) and on the bulletin board in the Student Center (located in the basement).

 

2. All individuals not representing a college organization or department must fill out a Request to Post Form. This form can be obtained from the Building Operations Department.

a) The form must be approved prior to posting.

b) The notice must have the approval stamp from the Building Operations Department on it prior to duplication.

c) Information identifying the individual(s) posting the material must be on all notices.

 

3. All notices must be posted in appropriate areas and on appropriately designated boards.

 

4. Persons posting notices are responsible for removing them once the message is outdated. All notices must be removed within the date indicated on the request form.

a) College organizations and departments must remove notices no later than 10 days after the end of their event.

b) All others must be removed by the date listed on the approved request form.

 

5. No commercial or non-profit material may be posted unless it is affiliated with a college organization or department.

a) Any department or organization that endorses a commercial or non-profit posting must have the notice approved, prior to posting, by the director of building operations using the designated form.

b) Any department or organization that endorses a commercial or non-profit group assumes responsibility for the content and removal of the notices.

 

6. Unapproved commercial and non-profit group/individual notices found at 3100 Main should be forwarded to the director of building operations.

 

Notices may not be posted in the following areas: hallways, classroom walls, doors,windows, elevators, lobbies, and other non-designated areas.

 

 

Types of Bulletin Boards

 

General Purpose Bulletin Boards

Faculty, staff and students may post notices of an appropriate or suitable nature on all general-purpose bulletin boards. These bulletin boards are located in the Administrative Service Center on floors 3, 4, 11 and 12 and also on the basement floor inside the Student Center. Notices that are considered inappropriate or unsuitable for internal posting include those that are:

- Commercial in nature with no direct benefit to students or the college.

- In violation of Houston Community College policies and procedures.

- Offensive according to community standards and illegally cover up legitimate notices.

- Posted materials may be no larger than 16" x 20" (poster size).

 

Appropriate notices must be posted using thumbtacks. Staples, tape or other devices or materials may not be used to hang notices.

Posted notices must be removed no later than 4 weeks after posting. The building operations staff will discard postings in violation of this policy.

 


Special-Purpose Bulletin Boards/Cases

Special-purpose bulletin boards or cases are those that are designated for, and are to be controlled by, a particular office, division or department. There shall be no posting of notices on special bulletin boards or cases except for the purpose for which they are intended.

 

Individual departments are responsible for their respective displays and for removing any outdated or inappropriate material from special-purpose bulletin boards in their area.

 

The notice display boards located in the elevators are reserved for Café' Neo's daily menu or for emergency notices only. They are assigned to the Building Operations Department.

 

The glass cases located in the employee lounges are reserved for federally mandated employment, human resources, HCC police and pest control notices. They are assigned to the Building Operations Department.

 

Posted materials may be no larger than 8 ½" x 14" for the glass cases and 8 ½" X 11" for the elevators.

 

Appropriate notices must be posted using thumbtacks. Staples, tape or other devices or materials may not be used to hang notices.
