Bruce A. Austin is a native Houstonian from the Fifth Ward, where he attended Wheatley High School. Elected to the HCC Board of Trustees in 1989, Mr. Austin was chairman from 1990 to 1992 and again from 2000 to 2002. He served as deputy secretary of the Board in 2006. (District II)

Herlinda Garcia has been a champion of education serving as principal of J. P. Henderson Elementary for three decades. (District III)

Carroll G. Robinson is an Associate Professor at the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University (TSU) where he has served as Associate Dean of External Affairs. (District IV)
