Small Business Owners complete the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program at HCC

The 18th cohort of small business owners recently completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Houston Community College in a ceremony at the HCC Alief – Hays Campus on Friday, May 5.
These business leaders have spent 14 weeks - roughly 100 class hours - at Houston Community College studying a business and management curriculum designed by Babson College and delivered by Houston Community College faculty. The curriculum covered accounting, human resources, negotiations and marketing, among other topics. The program also included one-on-one business advising, financial workshops and advice from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses community partners.

Connie Rankin, President of Customized Real Estate Services, Inc., author of “God Gave Us Wings” and a graduate of the Houston program in 2012, participated in the Cohort 18 graduation as the keynote speaker. She shared that she started the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program unsure about the future of her business. She had “lost who she was” and needed help. Through the program, she learned that as a business owner, she should not do it all herself. To grow, you must trust in your team, participate in educational opportunities and build a powerful tool set of skills.
