HCC student Ihsan Alqaraghuli has seen a positive change in his life since attending the Houston Community College Southwest Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).

“This chapter is teaching me how to prioritize my goals and how to organize my time according to things I want to do,” Alqaraghuli said.

NSLS provides lectures to the community followed by discussions and group activities to usher people into identifying and attaining aspirations.

HCC professor and Southwest College chapter mentor and organizer Dr. Pamela Bilton-Beard has seen success in the program. She said it has empowered students by recognizing their academic achievements and their abilities to be leaders on campus.

“It allows them to set goals,” Dr. Bilton-Beard said. “They meet with their networking team, and they are actually able to create smart goals.”

In addition to the NSLS, there are multiple organizations for students to get involved at HCC Southwest.  For more information contact the student life office at sw.studentlife@hccs.edu or call (713) 718-2746.
