HCC Adult Education partners awarded $164K for community-based job training

The City of Houston recently gave out notification that a partnership consisting of the HCC Adult Education Program, the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), and United Way THRIVE will receive $164,262 to deliver community based job training at the locations of a number of nonprofit organizations.

The Middle College High School at Gulfton has its first graduate. Laura Diaz, a 21-year-old mother, completed the program in one semester. The school opened its doors to 135 students in Fall 2014, coordinating with the Houston Independent School District.
