HCC Southwest and HISD partner to help at-risk high school students succeed

Houston Community College Southwest and Houston Independent School District are teaming up with a common goal ­– to identify at-risk students who are disengaged and disconnected from their comprehensive high school and help them stay in school to earn their high school diploma. The partnership allows for these at-risk students to not only secure high school degrees but seamlessly transition to higher education.

HCC Coleman College Launches Medical Scribe Program

HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences is offering a new program for careers as a medical scribe. Scribes are trained as medical information managers who specialize in charting physician-patient encounters in real-time. Medical Scribes interact and collaborate with other members of the health care team, but serve as the right hand to the physician. Similar to the medical transcriptionist, the medical scribe provides another career pathway or stepping stone to the health care system.

Excitement over 3-D printers continues to replicate at Houston Community College Southwest. The latest addition in the college's hardware upgrade is the Stratasys Objet Eden 260 V, or "Eden." The 3-D printers are designed to create physical objects.
