Name: Nancy Olson
Business:  LCD Concepts, Inc.
Cohort: Cohort 9, Spring 2014
Program Experience:  "My experience going through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program was phenomenal. It’s a very concentrated program that focuses on all aspects of running a small business: sales/marketing, HR & legal, being bankable, money & metrics, leadership and strategic growth. You also find out that you are not alone; what keeps you awake at night is what keeps most business owners awake, too. Now you have this strong support system comprised of your classmates plus the incredible faculty, advisors and directors of the program. It opens a whole new network of connections and contacts who are here to help you even after graduation. "

Name: Ashley Small
Business:  Medley, Inc.
Cohort: Cohort 17, Fall 2016
Program Experience:  "At one point during my career, my definition of success was, well... pretty superficial. It could have been a result of the people in my life at the time, the reality of working in PR (you know, the public perception part), or it could have been that very stubborn will of mine that caused me to have tunnel vision. I was misdirected and unmovable. It took several changes within my staff, a personal pivot and enrolling in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program for me to make a change (shout-out to Cohort 17). My hope is that we will all take a moment to reflect on how to define success on our own terms, especially during this season of resolving to improve."

Name: CV Rao
Business: TechOne Centre
Cohort: Cohort 1NW, Fall 2011
Program Experience: “As an entrepreneur of 20+ years, I never had the training to be successful in business. My success until graduating from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program was limited and accidental. After the program, I was able to break the “wall’ and take my business to the next level. I understood the value of building a cohesive team and developing a culture for the entire team to operate with. These changes led to a significant increase in productivity while simultaneously delivering better customer experiences. I feel fortunate to have been selected to participate in this program."

CV Rao was selected to be a speaker at the 2016 10KSB Talks - brief, powerful talks given by our Houston alumni to share best practices and experiences related to small business owners and implementation of growth strategies.

Name: Zawadi Bryant
Business: NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care
Cohort: Cohort 5, Fall 2012
Program Experience: "I learned through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program that I had to work on the business and not in it. We hired key personnel and solidified our values and culture. This allowed me to spend time outside of the business building relationships and partnerships as well as getting out of the day to day operations. I highly recommend the program for any business that desires to scale and grow!"

Name: Patty Sobelman
Business: Pines Montessori School
Cohort: Cohort 5, Fall 2012
Program Experience: “If this is the program for you and your school, or not, (although I promise you that it is, if you qualify and work very hard) switching “woe” to “grow” has made all the difference in the world. Immediately upon entering the program, I walked taller. NFP meetings felt like the sadder the story, the better the story. Small business owners talked about opportunities, possibilities, risks and rewards.”

Name: Yen Hoang
Business: UYL Color Supply, Inc.
Cohort: Cohort 5, Fall 2012
Program Experience: “It wasn't until I found the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program that I really got any training on being a small business owner, having come from the corporate world. Not only was the educational platform well rounded but the people! My fellow cohort members and faculty were beyond measurable in terms of support and guidance. They're my coaches, my cheerleaders, and my shoulder to lean on when I just want to lament about my entrepreneurial issues!”

Name: Abe Gonzalez
Business: RPC Global, Inc.
Cohort: Cohort 1, Summer 2011
Program Experience:  “The reason I applied to the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program was to find out why my business wasn’t growing. In class, I learned to open up, to speak freely, and to ask the tough questions. It was then I realized the answer was already within me–it was just a matter of bringing it out. Since graduating, my company has grown tremendously in both revenues, number of new employee hires, and is on the right path to growing again.”

Name: Pat Vice
Business: Texas Security Shredding
Cohort: Cohort 4, Summer 2012
Program Experience: “The program was transforming in that it gave us the knowledge and resources to develop a strong growth plan and a strategic path forward. The instructors focused on providing new skills so that small business leaders could thrive, succeed, and be innovative. We now give our staff better resources and are growing the staff through greater responsibilities and then praising risk and rewarding success. By documenting our vision and mission, employees now better understand their roles and responsibilities. Verbalizing this direction has moved our team members from employees to strategic partners in tackling our goals and moving the company forward.”

Name: Nancy Sabino
Business: SabinoCompTech
Cohort: Cohort 14, Fall 2015
Program Experience: “Many of the alumni stories we heard were about companies that have shown growth since they left the program. Companies that have gone on to be highly successful and have reached their growth plans or that are well on their way. While I NOW have full confidence that my company will also be one of these stories, my Goldman Sachs Experience reaches more than my company's growth. It is mine. I learned more about myself in these last three months than any other point in my life.”
