B.2.1.1 Safety

HCC shall develop, implement, and promote a comprehensive safety program.

The safety program shall be designed to:

  1. Minimize the possibility of accidents and injuries
  2. Prepare for effective, efficient response to emergencies and any potential threats
  3. Prohibit smoking in HCC vehicles and outside of designated areas
  4. Provide for appropriate fire escapes and evacuation procedures for each building
  5. Address vehicle and traffic safety
  6. Establish safe work rules and train employees in safe work practices; and
  7. Establish safety rules for all instructional programs

Emergency Response Program

HCC shall develop an Emergency Response Program that can be implemented on short notice and ensures optimum safety for students and employees.

The Chancellor is authorized to take any needed action to ensure the safety and well-being of employees, students, and the public during emergency events, natural disasters or man-made catastrophic events to include facility closures and expenditures of funds above signature authority. When such emergency expenditures occur, they will be presented for ratification at the next regular Board meeting.
