Minority Male Initiative Summer STEM Academy

The HCC Minority Male Initiative (MMI) Summer STEM Academy is offered free of charge to all students currently enrolled in the 5th to 8th grade. The four-week camp offers students the opportunity to explore the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The HCC summer STEM program believes in empowering young minds that are historically underserved and underrepresented with limited opportunities to recognize their potential and pursue their dreams. Staff encourages students to bring their curiosity and imagination, and dream about a career STEM!

Previous activities have included rocketry, flying real-life drones, forensic science, SeaPerch, LEGO Education, engineering and coding. Camps have culminated with field trips to I-Fly Houston to experience indoor skydiving in a vertical wind tunnel, guided tours of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and private visit of the Neutral Buoyance Lab at NASA.
