As Board Chair of Houston Community College, one of the largest community colleges in the nation, I am proud of the partnerships we have cultivated over the years. In fact, the name of our institution reinforces our crucial mission – to serve and work with our community. During my seven-year tenure on the Board, I have worked hard to strengthen HCC’s ties with schools and our community partners, and this year we plan to work even harder to achieve our objectives.

District 7 Highlights: 3-D printers making an imprint at Southwest College

Excitement over 3-D printers continues to replicate at Houston Community College Southwest. The latest addition in the college's hardware upgrade is the Stratasys Objet Eden 260 V, or "Eden." The 3-D printers are designed to create physical objects.

Community Connections: Alief YMCA’s 1st Annual Spectacular Music & Arts Festival

Houston Community College and Northwest Audio Recording & Film Making joined several other programs at the Alief YMCA Saturday, May 17. Alief wanted to celebrate music and exceptional art programs in the area, and to provide an illustration of just how many programs HCC has to offer in and around the Houston Area.

Community Connections: Alief Career Center to open this fall

Construction on the Houston Community College/Alief ISD Career Center on the HCC Alief Bissonnet Campus will wrap up this summer. The building will house programs designed to train Alief Independent School District and HCC students and certify or license them in the fields of electrical, plumbing and heating, venting, air conditioning and cooling (HVAC). Classes in the new building begin this fall.

As construction gears up on major bond construction projects, Houston Community College (HCC) and Jacobs Program Management Co. have set the date for their next small business enterprise (SBE) networking event. The event takes place at the HCC West Loop Center from 8:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m., Friday, July 11.
