HCC STEM Summer Camp students learn about sea turtles with trip to Galveston

Students were bused to the NOAA Fisheries Galveston Laboratory, where they used science to identify certain species of fish. They learned about the biology of sea turtles and the techniques used in preserving the endangered species.

Robert Garner Firefighter Academy at HCC produces Class of 2015 Alpha

Cadets from the Robert Garner Firefighter Academy at HCC received their certificates after months of grueling physical and mental training. The Class of 2015 Alpha is comprised of 22 members who had to be in top shape and academically sharp in order to meet requirements for graduation.

Certain jobs in demand today might not exist 10 years from now. Technology is growing and evolving so fast, students need to prepare for jobs that have yet to be invented. Houston Community College Governors Merit STEM Summer Program students did just that. They spent the day building and programming Lego robots. By learning how robots are built and programmed, students learn the basic language that current technology is built upon and its potential growth.

HCC strikes a goal with booth at Dynamo match

The Houston Community College public relations office at the West Loop Campus worked the crowd at BBVA Compass Stadium as the Houston Dynamo clashed against the Los Angeles Galaxy. Houston Community College had a presence at one of the season’s most anticipated games, passing out HCC Dynamo-covered sunglasses and literature to fans as they entered the game.
