STEM @ Houston Community College
As Houston area attracts more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-based corporations, there is an increased need for a well-trained STEM workforce. Houston Community College (HCC) has developed a comprehensive Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) focusing on improvement of student learning, engagement, and success in the sciences. To complement the plan, STEM faculty at HCC have written multi-million dollar grant proposals to purchase up-to-date science and technology equipment, and offer scholarships and research opportunities to the students. Faculty have also developed articulation agreements with other colleges and universities so that STEM students can successfully continue with their education after they leave HCC classrooms.

HCC STEM students receive Rice University summer internship
Emma Marichal from Central College and David Aghado from Southwest College have been offered summer interships for Rice University's Summer Internship program. More details soon to come.

It’s not too often you will find a NASA Astronaut, a Weatherford chief scientist with two patents, an Ortorhinolaryngologist and a VP for GE Oil & Gas in the same room. HCC Southwest pulled off that feat and filled up the West Loop Campus Auditorium to capacity for its STEM Symposium.
