Accreditations

The CHP works to ensure that all of its course offerings are approved for professional contact hour continuing education credit by recognized accrediting agencies whenever possible. The CHP is working to expand upon the number of healthcare disciplines it currently provides accredited professional continuing education credit for:

Clinical Laboratory Professionals

HCC Coleman College is approved to award continuing education credit to be used by certificants towards their recertification requirements for the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification Maintenance Program (CMP).

Community Health Worker

Houston Community College Coleman College for Health Science is approved by the Department of State Health Services

(DSHS) for Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification and CEU's (#00004), and Community Health Worker Instructor Certification and CEUs (#00005).

Dental Professionals

HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences is recognized by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) and approved to offer dental continuing education (dental assisting and dental hygiene).

Health Information Technology Professionals

The HCC Coleman College Health Information Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Nursing Professionals

Houston Community College is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Radiology Technicians

On a course-by-course basis, Houston Community College applies for continuing education credit approval from the American Society of Radiology Technologist (ASRT) for radiology technician continuing education.

Social Work Professionals

Houston Community College is an approved provider of licensed social worker continuing education (CE) under the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners.

Don't see your healthcare discipline on the list? Some healthcare disciplines do not allow for awarding of a continuing education “providership” to institution such as the HCC CHP. In those cases each course offering is approved individually through the accrediting agency, or it may be incumbent upon the licensed/certified healthcare professional to seek credit for courses completed.
